I mean, I do love my work and spend a lot of time hours attending to it, but there is a work-life balance!

For over 20 years I have been studying Aikido, a Japanese martial art that is all about self-defense. We use open-hand techniques as well as weapons. We focus on balance, being centered, and getting offline of an attack.

Aikido is a practice very suitable for young and old, and I am pleased to be training at Tacoma Aikikai on S 12th Street here in Tacoma.

There are so many things we do in life that require us to be present, to be in the moment. I greatly appreciate how much this study has helped me stay physically fit while training my mind and spirit as well. Practicing Aikido builds “ki” or energy, very much along the lines of the Traditional Chinese Medicine concept of “Qi.”

My dojo also provides a wonderful community of people with whom to train and grow.

Domo arigato!
